Most epic War of the Worlds marathon ever (ever!)

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Thank you Allan and Amalie for hosting this most awesome night of awesomeness (and for the photos, since I was the douche-blogger without the camera – you can see even more photos at their respective blogs)!
If somehow these pictures do not tell you anything, we had the most epic War of the Worlds marathon last night with Jeff Wayne’s musical version, the 1953 movie version and Spielberg’s 2005 version (which you should watch if you were too much of an anti-Cruise-snob to watch, ’cause it’s pretty friggin’ awesome despite the really annoying kids) – we even threw in a little of Orson Welles’ 1938 radio show! And of course! Most epic TRIPOD BURGERS! And marzipan-white chocolate-blueberry muffins (also made into tripods for your viewing pleasure).

We ended the night with Dr Horrible’s Sing Along Blog, which was truly awesome.
Hope you guys enjoyed your weekend as well!

birthday

First present of the day! It’s The Collected Sequential by Paul Hornschemeier.

birthday

Flatmate also gave me this little Le Creuset mortar and pestle.

Then it was time to pick up a new member of the family. I shot two test rolls of film during the day, hopefully they will turn out good.

Next part of my birthday was spent at Conspiracy Inc!

birthday

Amalie had brought some awesome cake from a French patisserie.

And this is what I ended up with. It’s a rockin’ unicorn – geddit?! Done by the awesome Uncle Allan (photo also by him). I had such a good time there, as always – thanks, guys!

Kimbap, bulgogi, two types of kimchi, a ton of banchan and Korean goodness. It was grand, no less.

The new one, again.

birthday

My cousin. The weather was really hot.

birthday

My parents got me a blender! I’m guessing fruit cocktails will be frequent in the future.

birthday

Also, pajama bottoms.

birthday

My name plate.

birthday

My aunt made me her awesome layer cake!

birthday

Seriously pretty.

birthday

And terribly good!

Other presents included this Medina CD that came in the mail from someone, a ticket to see Kings of Convenience with one of my favourite people, a book gift certificate and some money. Pretty good, if you ask me! Also, this is a pretty amazing gift in itself.

All in all a fantastic day, despite being sick and really tired! Thank you all for your birthday wishes, it means a lot!

It’s JYP and 2PM, baby

Monday, April 27th, 2009

The man in this photo is Park Jin Young (also known as just “JYP”) and he is responsible for a lot of k-pop. You might remember my favourite girl group, Wonder Girls, if you read my blog back when I was in South Korea.

While being a solo artist, he also founded JYP Entertainment which has produced artists such as Rain, Joo and also boy groups 2PM and 2AM.

Out of the last two I like 2PM the best, since their songs are dancy rather than ballads, and ballads are not really my thing much.

This was the first song I heard by them, and for a long time was also the only song I knew!

I just noticed a new video of them, though. I am not completely sold on it yet, but I reckon after another couple of listens I will appreciate it more.
It’s also funny how there are so many members. There are quite a few Korean groups with more than five and up to thirteen members! It must be a little hard being a Korean fangirl and having to keep track of all the names.
