I still go here, sometimes.

Manfreds & Vin
Tuesday, February 25th, 2014Winter cold and foggy days
Wednesday, February 19th, 2014The day after I came back from Italy in December, we took the train to the countryside, picked up the car and drove to Århus to pick up Rasmus’ siblings. We had a bite to eat.
We then spent a week in Sdr. Bork and I managed to only to go outside a couple of times, simply because I was exhausted. I needed a break.
I did wake up sort of early one morning to catch some fog just outside.
Nymindegab Kro popup restaurant
Friday, February 7th, 2014When in Vestjylland, we’ve often driven through Nymindegab. In all kinds of weather we’ve stopped to photograph the area and the horses. But we’ve sadly never had the opportunity to visit Nymindegab Kro, so obviously we were thrilled to hear that they had opened a popup restaurant at Andersens Hotel in the autumn of 2013, but sad when we realised it would only be open for another two weeks. Securing a table on the stormiest of nights, we made it to and from the hotel safely!
We were treated to the loveliest wines and a menu consisting of the softest salmon with salad and vinaigrette, pork cheeks with barley and kale, skallingen from Enghavegård, where we get our cheese when we’re in Vestjylland (a most delicious cheese – gold medalist at the World Cheese Awards in 2013 for best nordic cheese, no kidding!) with pear and tarragon topped off with lovely wines all along the way. We basically licked our plates!
Now I am not usually much for desserts – I fill up straight away when eating sweet things, but one thing I really enjoy is liquorice (salty, for the most part). I’ve had liquorice creme brûlée before, but this liquorice dessert with lemon and creme really stole my heart. It looked a bit overwhelming to me, as I usually can’t finish a dessert no matter how small it is, but I literally cleaned the plate with my finger to make sure I got everything. It wasn’t subtle and light like fruit desserts, and it wasn’t rich and heavy like chocolates – it was just about perfect. The Nymindegab Signature is something I’m hoping we’ll get a chance to enjoy soon enough, and hopefully overlooking the beautiful surroundings at the restaurant in Nymindegab.
