How awesome are sand textures?
I’m really missing the beach a lot at the moment, or maybe just summer (and sun), so here are some photos from Long Beach in November ‘09 on a really nice and sunny day.
So the thing is, I am actually not that fond of sand, at least not between my toes and in my hair and food and everywhere, because they are tiny rocks you know! Un-deliciously crunchy. I have also, for many years, been very scared of swimming in the sea, because you can drown (this is a silly reason as I used to be an elite swimmer) and there are sharks (this is the silliest reason as there are no sharks here, but they exist and they are big and scary) and it’s dark and unknown and cold and there are sharp rocks and sea weed and crabs that grab your toes and jelly fish and sharks (again) and so on. Also, there are always a ton of people on the beach during the summer and there is no space and they litter and they splash and throw beach balls around that hit you on your head.
So, in reality, not so fond of the beach, but getting there slowly. To be continued…

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009I am glad I got some sun while I was in New York, it is a rare thing here these days. It almost got to me today. Another dark, grey day with rain during the only 15 minutes of daylight I get in a whole day while biking to work.
I try not to think about it too much. Keeping busy helps and listening to music that makes me happy (I’m digging Violent Femmes extra much lately, and Feelies still).
What do you do to keep the darkness from taking over your soul (yes, how’s that for dramatic effect)?
